Focus: Microscope Photography

“All nature is but art unknown to thee”- Alexander Pope

Alexander Pope’s quote reflects my personal thoughts about how nature is art in itself, and how nature is often reflected in human created art. Following the Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge of focus, I chose a photo that I believe to be mesmerizing, beautiful, and natural.

This photo is of a goldfish fin stained with chemicals so one can observe chromatophores in the fin.  The fin seems almost to be like abstract art, as it can be interpreted by different viewers in different ways. Attempting to take a photo of an object under a microscope is very difficult and often the photos are not in focus. This singular photo represents the difficulty of focusing a microscope, getting a picture in focus, and focusing on nature as art.
